Prayer to Saint Lucy
This prayer to Saint Lucy is mainly for people looking for a healing of eye problems and the healing of one’s soul.
I came across this prayer, when my good eye was threatened by a Pterygium. I was already blind in the left eye due to a laceration in the shape of ‘V’ and ten sutures on it. This happened years ago from a car accident. Initially, I could not see anything. But gradually, I began to see light, then blurry shapes and colours. However, I cannot yet read with my left eye, due to the laceration right across the centre of the eye.
I was used to living with the one eye, until my recent eye check-up. I was told that a Pterygium was developing in my right eye and that if it grew towards the centre, it could result in blindness. Although surgery was an option, I was told that it is one of the most painful procedures during recovery.
Having a very low pain threshold, I yet don’t have the courage to go through this surgery and now I am begging God for a miracle healing.
Saint Lucy is the patron saint for eyes. I started this prayer today, December 13, 2011 and it was a co-incident when I found that today is the feast day of Saint Lucy. I believe that through Saint Lucy’s intervention, and if it is God’s will, God will heal me. I used the following prayer for healing through St Lucy.
Prayer to Saint Lucy
Whose beautiful name signifies 'LIGHT'
by the light of faith which God bestowed upon you
increase and preserve His light in my soul
so that I may avoid evil,
Be zealous in the performance of good works
and abhor nothing so much as the blindness and
the darkness of evil and sin.
Obtain for me, by your intercession with God
Perfect vision for my bodily eyes
and the grace to use them for God’s greater honour and glory
and the salvation of souls.
St. Lucy, virgin and martyr
hear my prayers and obtain my petitions.
During this time (November 2011), I am also praying for my friend in Carmel, Sue who has to go through an eye surgery. Sue too had only one good eye which has now lost its vision, and I pray God for a miracle healing.
This paragraph is an update after Sue's surgery. I am writing this in January 2012. Sue has completely recovered from the surgery and got back her vision. Praise to Almighty God and Jesus the Healer. Saint Lucy Thank you for praying for us. Sue is only stopped from driving for a while until the doctors gives her the OK.
In gratitude, I would like to offer this webpage, Prayer to Saint Lucy in honour of this zealous woman of God. She is a virgin and martyr. You can click on the Life Story of Saint Lucy to read about her.
Although, there are many different prayers to St Lucy, the above is my favourite prayer to Saint Lucy. Some invoke Saint Lucy’s prayers for woman with bleeding problems. The reason being, that her mother was healed through St Lucy’s faith and intervention.
I encourage young people to pray to St Lucy at times they are bullied, laughed at or mocked for their faith. This type of persecution happens at schools, universities, work places and even in their own homes. Saint Lucy stood strong in her faith and she will definitely pray for you for courage and joy.
